Our Areas of Focus

1. Community Awareness – Educate the public on the growing epidemic of preventable medical errors and to inform the community of actions to take that will increase safety when admitted to a hospital.

2. Online Resources/Community Outreach – The website is a resource to help patients and families answer questions before you go into the hospital, while you are in the hospital, and after you go home from the hospital. It also has a forum for individuals to share and review their experiences with hospitals to better inform future patients. There will also be a forum where hospitals can inform the community on their advances in patient safety.

3. Education – Create and distribute literature in hospitals, online, and throughout the community that provides important questions to ask and helpful facts to know in order to be an effective advocate/guardian for your loved one while they are in the hospital. It will also have resources to commonly used drugs including the recommended dosages and possible side effects for patients.

4. Strong Medical/Community Partnerships – Support a multidisciplinary team of medical doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, pharmacists, and community representatives to develop and implement new and proven safety measures and technology that will improve patient safety.
