Patient Education
Every day I ask myself, “How could I have been a better advocate for my mom in the hospital?” The honest fact is that even had I not listened to the nurse and stayed with my mom that night, she would still have passed away because I did not know what to look for. However, since her death I have learned so much. And had I known then what I know now, I feel confident that my mom would still be with us today, as we would have been able to stop the train wreck from happening to her.
The goal of the foundation is to help prepare and provide patients and families with the knowledge that will help promote a positive outcome through the duration of their medical journey. The foundation has brought together hospitals systems, doctors, and nurses together to gather knowledge and learn everything we can about patient safety and being an effective advocate for your loved ones from the beginning to the end of their medical experience.
I have learned so much about patient safety since my mom passed away one year ago. I do not think of myself as an expert, but rather a willing student, who wants to learn as much as I can about patient safety.
No one is more invested in the outcome than the patient and the patient’s family. We hope that you will find these resources as a guide to help you in your medical journey in hopes of a positive and safe experience.
